The people behind the pour

Rolls are cast by furnaces, but made by people — foundrymen, machinists and metallurgists who have refined one craft for three decades.

The workforce

Craft passed hand to hand

Many of our foundrymen and machinists have spent their entire careers at Sherpur Road. Casting a chilled roll is judgement as much as procedure — reading a melt, timing a double pour, feeling a finish — and that judgement is taught on the floor, senior to junior.

Individually tailored training, a coordinated leadership programme and steady local hiring keep that knowledge in Malerkotla — the city of rolls — where it was built.
